The first Classified opened its doors in 2006 just a couple doors down from The Press Room (now ten locations throughout Hong Kong). A casual European café specializing in artisan breads and cheeses, boutique wines and is renowned for its breakfast & all-day dining menu. Offering casual al fresco seating areas in most locations, Classified encourages neighbourhood street-level interaction.
Opening on Hollywood Road in Sheung Wan, many questioned whether a European-styled café could survive in a traditional Chinese area. But Hong Kongers showed they had an appetite for homemade artisanal food. Locals embraced the authentic al fresco style, contemporary design and wide selection of boutique wines, gourmet coffees, specialty cheeses and handmade breads. Classified re-invented the way locals eat out – and enhanced the Sheung Wan area – by bringing casual outdoor dining to the streets.
Serious about cheese, Classified broke new ground providing a walk-in cheese room, allowing locals to make their selections from within a temperature-controlled environment.
Locals have now welcomed Classified into seven Hong Kong neighbourhoods, from Stanley and Sai Kung to Tai Hang and Wan Chai.
