The Safari chain began in Australia, August 1980 operated by the Nazmi family. It was called the; “Safari Indonesian Restaurant” James & Rose Nazmi had only one dream, to serve authentic Indonesian cuisine. Safari built its name in Newtown and became a land mark in the inner west of Sydney. It gave the locals one of its first tastes of authentic Indonesian cuisine. The restaurant was defined with its recognizable motto Serving fine food and service with a smile.

The restaurant is fully decorated with traditional Indonesian antiques and artifacts, to give the customer the sensation of experiencing the true culture and atmosphere of Indonesian without leaving the country. Over the years the business started to branch over Asia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei and Japan. Food was not only the concern Safari strived to provide the loyal customer with its own brand of family service
