In the early 90’s, dining in Jakarta meant two dining styles really far from each other: or you frequented high-end and expensive hotel-restaurants, or you were a down-market hawker stalls’ customer.
In this context, KOI established itself as the 1st trendy, stand-alone and middle ranged Asian restaurant in Jakarta. We opened our doors in 1993 in the café-lined area of Mahakam, South Jakarta, near Blok M. By including an art gallery within the restaurant, we mixed art & food for the fist time too.
In 1998, with the arrival of the Belgian Chef Benoit Claeys, KOI enriched its concept by introducing European cuisine next to its renowned Asian one.
Today, more passionate than ever, Chef Benoit Claeys puts his culinary creativity in the service of his 2 KOI Restaurants, dedicating more sophistication to the Mahakam’s menus and bringing more lightness through the Kemang’s proposal.
However, he never makes compromises with the ingredients quality, neither the care brought to the cooking, at reasonable prices. You can enjoy the option of distinctively “French Brasserie” food or authentic Asian dishes, while tasting a glass of the wine of the month or decide upon one of the numerous international wines and beers available.
Don’t forget to start your culinary experience at KOI Mahakam by tasting a fabulous exclusive cocktail or mocktail at the bar!
At Koi Mahakam, you will enjoy the trendy and cosy atmosphere, perfect in any occasion, should it be a lunch or dinner with family and friends, or more intimate private and business meals. It’s all furnished with the collection of KOI Kemang Gallery.
For your convenience, you will appreciate the free wifi connection and the power plugs close to every table. A smoking and a non-smoking area are designed for the comfort of all of you.
