Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh has its humble beginnings in Outram Park estate, one of the first HDB estates in Singapore. When the land was reacquired by the government in 1995, Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh shifted to its current premises at Havelock Road. In 2006, due to overwhelming demand, Madam Gwee and her sister Guek Hwa opened another branch at Keppel Road. Madam Gwee’s meticulous dedication to detail comes through in every bowl of Bak Kut Teh. Only the freshest ingredients are used. This signature brew of pepper and spices is recognized by many in Singapore. Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh is the proud winner of the Singapore Hawker Masters award for 2 years running, both in 2012 and 2013.
